The Department of Social Sciences at Universidad Carlos III Madrid invites
applications for a 2-years Post-Doctoral Position within a International
Collaborative Research Project on “Uses of the Past in International Economic
Relations” (UPIER), funded by HERA (Humanities in the European Research Area).
At Universidad Carlos III Madrid, the appointed post-doc researcher will
contribute to the research project “Untamed Past? History and the PIGS (Portugal,
Italy, Greece, Spain) in the Euro crisis”. The project explores how interpretations of
the past were used in the public discourse about recent macroeconomic
imbalances in Southern European Economies. To that purpose, the project applies
multi-lingual textual analysis to a variety of large-scale text sources produced in
the political and economic debate over the single currency since the 1980s, as
well as during the recent Eurozone crisis. The appointed post-doc researcher will
be engaged in research tasks related to the project. These include collection,
processing and analysis of texts and data; use of empirical methods for
multilingual textual analysis; drafting of research proposals and working papers.
He/she will also participate and contribute to the organization of scientific
activities (workshops, seminars, conferences) within the UPIER project.
Closing date for applications: 31st March 2017
