In March 2017 Europe celebrates the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome, the event that started the process of European integration.
Bruegel took this opportunity to reflect on the journey so far and how Europe can meet the domestic and global challenges that it faces.
To this end we organised on the 22nd of March a series of conversations between Bruegel scholars and European thinkers. What has Europe achieved? How can the population take back ownership of the project and make it its own? How do the young see the future of a 60 year project?
Achievements, successes but equally challenges and problems are all part of the European future. We are looking for ways to create a Europe that will make it robust to domestic problems and world challenges.
